Rio Grande Trail
The Rio Grande Trail runs from Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Aspen, Colorado. A great weekend trail plan includes an Amtrak train ride through the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains and then a couple days on the Glenwood Canyon Trail and the Rio Grande Trail. You can find information about this Glenwood Springs Train to Trails Tour at either OnTheMoveTours.com or ActiveTravelTours.com.
One of the unique, inexpensive, and fun options for this 42 mile trail is to ride your bike from Glenwood Springs to Aspen, spend some time in the art galleries, gelato shops, and miscellaneous Aspen stores, then load your bike on the RFTA public transit bus for a ride back to Glenwood Springs. For the perfect end to a great day, enjoy soaking your weary bones in the incredible Glenwood Hot Springs. It doesn’t get much better than that.
